Meet Betsy Gunnels, Charlottesville Realtor and Lake Monticello Realtor
Born and raised in Arlington, Virginia, Betsy Gunnels is a full-time Realtor who understands the importance of family. Married to her husband, Fred Gunnels, for 41 years, Betsey Gunnels raised five daughters in the Northern Virginia area before moving to Lake Monticello in 2000. Today, Betsy Gunnels, her husband and her youngest daughter, Maggie Gunnels, operate a successful Charlottesville and Lake Monticello real estate business together.
While growing up in Arlington, Betsy Gunnels attended York Town High School. Although Fred lived just a few blocks away from Betsy, he graduated from W-L High School. Following graduation, both attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Today, Betsy and Fred have been married for 41 wonderful years and are the proud grandparents of 7 grandchildren.
As life-long residents of Virginia, Fred and Betsy Gunnels have long been familiar with the Lake Monticello area. In fact, Betsy?s parents had been long-time residents of Lake Monticello. So, when Fred and Betsy Gunnels decided they wanted to live closer to Betsy?s parents, the decision to move to Lake Monticello was an easy one. Youngest daughter Maggie decided to join her parents in the move as well as in the real estate business.
After renewing her real estate license in 2001, it didn?t take long for Betsy Gunnels to establish herself as the best Realtor in the Charlottesville area. Not only has Betsy Gunnels sold hundreds of homes, which makes her the top producing Realtor in the Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors and the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate III, she has also earned many awards and recognitions within the industry. Perhaps her greatest accomplishment is being voted Favorite Area Realtor three years in a row from 2008 through 2010 by The Rural Virginian?s Readers Choice Edition.

Family is important to Betsy Gunnels. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to those that no her to learn that she has managed to operated a successful real estate business for the past ten years with the help of her husband, Fred, and daughter, Maggie.
After moving from the Northern Virginia area to Lake Monticello in order to live closer to Betsy?s parents, Betsy Gunnels decided to renew her real estate license. Initially, Fred spent his time serving as his own contractor as he made additions and other alterations to the family home. As Betsy Gunnels? business grew, however, Fred decided to obtain his real estate license in order to assist his wife with her growing business. When her parents decided to move to Lake Monticello, it didn?t take much to persuade their youngest daughter, Maggie, to join them. As a three-year graduate from Radford University, Maggie had spent much time traveling abroad before settling down in Lake Monticello. Thanks to her interest in other cultures combined with her entrepreneurial spirit, Maggie Gunnels has helped the family business remain on the cutting edge. Fred Gunnels also has a long history of volunteer work and giving back to his community. Not only is Fred Gunnels a former middle school teacher, but he also volunteered as a softball coach and umpire for many years. In addition, he taught religious classes for many years at St Joseph?s Church in Herndon, Virginia.
